Why StreetDoctors?
StreetDoctors mission and purpose is closely aligned to by personal values and belief in empowering young people to be part of the solution of street violence. We use education to create real change to the lives of young people, support them to have their voice heard and provide meaningful social impact for the communities.
Background
Martin began his career as a youth worker and has over 25 years experience as a senior leader with charities and the third sector in the UK and internationally. He previously held national leadership roles at the British Red Cross, delivering innovative programmes in emergency response, community resilience and education, and is the founder and CEO of the Bumba Foundation which delivers innovative sustainable educational project in Uganda. Martin was awarded an MBE in 2023 and is recognised for his strategic leadership, organisational growth and commitment to social impact.
Outside of StreetDoctors
Martin supports a number of small charities and SME’s in their change and growth strategies, and has led a number of sustainable agricultural initiatives in Uganda with a focus on creating micro climates. He has produced and directed a number of award winning impact documentaries, and can often been seen fell running in the lakes or in his garden growing his next meal.
